Scholarships for Continuing Students

The College of Liberal Arts, in partnership with generous collegiate benefactors, is proud to offer a multitude of scholarship awards to continuing students in the College of Liberal Arts. Scholarships vary in requirements, but most are awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

All scholarships are reserved for students who intend to receive their bachelor's degree from CLA and have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. If you plan to complete your undergraduate studies in a different college (e.g. Carlson School of Management, College of Biological Sciences, etc.), you are not eligible to receive a scholarship award from CLA.

In addition to CLA Continuing Student Scholarships, you may qualify for scholarships and awards offered by your department. Check your department website
for information.

To Apply

Award notifications will be sent out in May 2018.

Students who submit a Continuing Student Scholarship Application will be considered for all collegiate awards for which they are eligible. Your financial need is considered for all CLA awards. To apply, you must be taking courses toward completing your declared CLA major, have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher, and be planning to receive a bachelor’s degree from CLA. If you receive an award, you must maintain full-time status (13 credits or more) for the supported scholarship year (fall and spring semesters only).

If you want to be considered for need-based awards, you should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. If updated FAFSA information is not available prior to scholarship committee reviews, information from the previous year will be reviewed.

Awards

Your award will be made for the 2018–2019 academic year. Half of the award amount will be dispersed at the beginning of each semester.

If you receive an award, you may receive funds from only one scholarship from the College of Liberal Arts during one academic year. You are allowed to receive an additional award made by a CLA department.

If you received a CLA Freshman Scholarship, you may still apply for Continuing Student Scholarships, but you will only receive a new scholarship if the award amount is higher than your original scholarship.

To receive your CLA Continuing Scholarship, you must maintain full-time status (13 credits or more) in the 2018-2019 academic year (fall and spring semesters only). Please note that nine- or twelve-month distant learning courses do not count towards the 13-credit requirement.
