Research Degrees
Thank you for your interest in graduate study with the Department of Writing Studies. Through formal coursework, independent study, directed research projects, and participation in scholar-teacher communities, students in the rhetoric and scientific & technical communication (RSTC) programs have many opportunities for training and experience as researchers and teachers.
We offer the following graduate degree options:
- Master of arts in rhetoric and scientific & technical communication (RSTC MA).
- PhD in rhetoric and scientific & technical communication (RSTC PhD).
- Graduate minor in rhetoric and scientific & technical communication (RSTC minor). This minor is offered at the master’s or doctoral level for students enrolled in other University graduate programs.
- Graduate minor in literacy and rhetorical studies (LRS minor). This minor is offered at the master’s or doctoral level and may be pursued by RSTC students as well as those enrolled in other University graduate programs.
