PhD in French Studies

The PhD phase builds on the foundation of the MA. You will undertake a program of study aiming to produce original, thoughtful, and rigorous research in a carefully chosen area of French and/or Francophone studies. Reading broadly in that major area, while also investigating a minor area, you will acquire extensive knowledge preparing you for dissertation research.

After passing your preliminary examinations, you will design and carry out a well-focused dissertation project that reflects original research and offers a demonstrated contribution to our field.
