Transnational Adoption

Kara was born Kwan Ok Kim in Seoul, South Korea, in 1975. This story explains how she was adopted by an American family and moved to Minnesota in 1976.

Mia was born in South Korea in 1960 and was adopted by an American family in Minnesota at the age of 10. She reconnected with her birth mother at the age of 17 in Burlington, New Jersey. Since coming to the United States, she has done around 6 years of missionary work in Thailand and China.

Sophie was born in Wuhan, China and adopted at five months old by a family from San Francisco. She grew up there and later moved to Saint Paul to attend Macalester College.

Suzanne was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1966. She was adopted by an American military family and raised in Minnesota. In 2008, she began researching her adoption and uncovering the truth about her childhood.
