Room Reservation Policies

Request a Room Reservation at z.umn.edu/LCRR

  • Language Center classrooms are available only to instructors who need them to use audio, video, or computer equipment
  • Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Plan your class and reserve rooms early

Types of Reservations 

The Language Center encourages instructors to reserve classrooms, equipment and media ahead of time to ensure availability and leave time for adjustments to the class schedule if necessary. The center is funded by CLA, and so priority is given to CLA instructors and students, as well as to colleges and programs for which an agreement is in place.

Different policies apply to these reservations, depending on how far in advance they are being made.

  • These reservations always require a reservation form
  • Each class is allowed to reserve up to 15 hours in Jones Hall classrooms
  • Teachers of intensive courses may negotiate their needs
  • Reservations of other equipment and media are unlimited in terms of amount and frequency (within reason)
  • Instructors must intend to use the technology they are reserving
  • These reservations always require a reservation form
  • Instructors can reserve beyond the 15-hour limit, but reasonable limits are still imposed
  • Reservations of other equipment and media are unlimited in terms of amount and frequency (within reason)
  • Instructors must intend to use the technology they are reserving

These reservations do not require a form and can be made over the phone by calling 612-624-6811.

 

Reservation Preferences

Because our mission is to support language and culture instruction, instructors teaching theses courses receive scheduling priority.

  1. Language and Culture Instructors
    • Can make all three types of reservations for rooms, media, and equipment.
  2. Other CLA Instructors:
    • Cannot make Limited Advance reservations for rooms, and can only make Open Advance reservations 2 weeks in advance. Can make all three types of reservations for media and equipment.
  3. Other instructors (Non-CLA)
    • Cannot make Limited Advance or Open Advance reservations for rooms, and may only make Last Minute reservations. Can make all three types of reservations for media and equipment.

 

Students

Students may reserve a small rooms, but they may not reserve classrooms. They may also reserve and equipment to use in Jones Hall only. Restrictions on the frequency or duration of reservations may apply.

 

Speakeasy Reservation Policies and Guidelines

Below are some important policies and guidelines to be aware of while you are using the Speakeasy Lounge & Event Space (Jones 135).

Doors to Speakeasy Lounge & Event Space

If the doors to the Speakeasy Lounge & Event Space (Jones 135) are closed, the room is locked. Patrons who need to leave the room briefly will need someone to open the doors from inside for them to get back in.

Access to Jones 135B

In order for patrons to access 135B, they will need to go through the main space (Jones 135) to get to the room. Please make sure the door to 135B is easily accessible and not blocked.

Printing

Printing is temporarily unavailable in Jones 135. We will notify you when it is available again.

All University Libraries (except Andersen) offer self-serve printing stations that can also be used to scan and copy.

Add value to your U Card or copy card using online deposit to Gopher GOLD or at a Cash-to-Gopher GOLD station.

  • Black-and-white prints and copies are $0.10 per exposure ($0.20 double-sided)
  • Color prints and copies are $0.50 per exposure ($1.00 double-sided)
  • Black-and-white and color scans are free.
