Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access

Committee Charge

The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) committee is charged with developing and promoting strategic recommendations to measurably advance social justice throughout the School of Music. The committee's work spurs and accelerates transformation in the areas of leadership, policy, culture, curriculum, repertoire, and pedagogy.

The committee's work takes place within the larger context of a divided world in which individuals with oppressed and marginalized identities are often silenced, ignored, or targeted. The committee undertakes its work with the knowledge that the School of Music has both played a role in perpetuating inequity and also served as a leader in building community and mitigating inequity. Empowered to advise, evaluate progress, and hold the School of Music accountable for fundamental change, the committee remains diligent to creating an equitable environment for all.
