Internships

We encourage our history undergraduates to pursue an internship during their time at the U. Internships are a great way for you to test out potential career choices and find the type of employment and job environment that suits you. An internship can also help you develop professional skills and build your network—all factors that can help you land that first job upon graduation.

  • The Norman Moen Public History Scholarship
    • The history department is proud to offer the Norman Moen Public History Scholarship to an exceptional CLA undergraduate to support the student’s participation in a mentored public history internship. The funds may be used for the payment of tuition, fees, and/or purchase of academic books. Preference will be given to students who have taken coursework in public history or have participated in the History Day mentorship program.
  • Minnesota Historical Society
    • Located in downtown St. Paul, the Minnesota Historical Society offers a local internship opportunity for college students at the University of Minnesota. These internships are offered year-round and allow students an opportunity to gain real-world experience working in a museum. This is a unique opportunity for advanced undergraduate and graduate students to work in an organization dedicated to preserving local history while building career credentials. For more information, please visit the College Internships page at the Minnesota Historical Society.
  • CLA Career & Internship Services
