Psychology Advising Announcements

1. Fall Registration Opens April 9th - Schedule an Appointment Soon

Registration for the Fall semester is coming up quickly (you should be able to see your registration time on MyU now too!). Right now, our calendars are open and we are ready to help you pick your fall courses. Our schedules have been known to fill quickly so if you have any questions or concerns about Fall registration, sign up for an appointment soon! You are also welcome to see us on drop-ins (done through Zoom!) and email us at psyadvis@umn.edu. We look forward to meeting with you!

2. Resources Moving Online

We have received alerts that many offices on campus are moving to online services so you can still get assistance, even off-campus! We will try to keep a running list of some of those services:

Psychology Student Group Announcements

3. Psych Club Updates

Due to recent events related to COVID-19 communicated in full here, Psych Club will be undergoing permanent changes to our upcoming schedule and we are quickly adjusting to online, interactive communication via Zoom, Google Hangouts, and more. The following newsletter will be psych clubs form of weekly communication with all students/members and will be sent out weekly, on Wednesdays. Many people are already subscribed to this newsletter, however, if you are not yet subscribed but interested in keeping up with information related specifically to psychology club, as well as resources for all students struggling in any capacity with COVID-19 as we are aware everyone on campus is impacted either directly or indirectly. Please reach out to the Vice President, Ellis Raduenz via email with any questions, comments, or concerns and be well!

5. Remotely Well: The Five Essential Elements of #Quarantine Well Being

In a few short days, people around the world dramatically up-ended their lives, implementing principles of "self quarantining" and "social distancing" in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Few, if any of us, were prepared to transform almost every aspect of our lives in such a short amount of time. In this webinar, Board Certified Coach and Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach Chad Ellsworth will discuss strategies for implementing Gallup's Five Elements of Well Being in the midst of "quarantine life." The Five Elements of Well Being are a comprehensive model of personal wellness, based on decades of Gallup's research on the subject.

Join the University of Minnesota's Earl E. Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing for an informal hour of meditation and light movement. Bakken Center Mindfulness and Wellbeing Instructor Mariann Johnson will guide you through exercises that will leave you feeling physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually rejuvenated. Learn more about the Earl E. 7. HIRE BIG 10 - Virtual Career Fair

8. MN COVIDsitters

The COVID-19 pandemic directly affects our Twin Cities community. Those on the frontlines in healthcare and public health need YOUR HELP with childcare and running errands so they can continue to serve those affected by the virus. As schools have transitioned to online learning, we are in a unique position to step into these roles and support our community during this unprecedented time. 9. Learn to Live

Do you suffer from anxiety, stress, social anxiety, depression, insomnia, or substance use? If so, Learn to Live is here to help. Learn to Live offers five highly effective online programs based on the proven principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Our programs are confidential, accessible anywhere, and based on years of research showing online CBT programs to be as effective as face-to-face therapy. Choose the right program for you: our Social Anxiety Program, our Depression Program, our Insomnia Program, our Substance Use Program, or our Stress, Anxiety and Worry Program. 10. Nutritious U Food Pantry

The Nutritious U Food Pantry will be offering food to students at Coffman Memorial Union for the remainder of the semester. Students in need can request a bag of groceries and choose their pick up time through a Google form found on our webpage here. Students that are in self-quarantine and unable to leave their home can request delivery through that same Google form. Delivery is only available for students who live in the following zip codes: 55455, 55414 or 55108. If a student no longer lives near campus, they can find additional food resources throughout Minnesota here. Please refer to our website for the most up to date information.
