Congratulations to Colin DeYoung and Nicola Grissom for each receiving a Brain Imaging Grant for Spring 2023. The Brain Imaging Grants provide CLA faculty members the opportunity to fund projects with the grant or to purchase items related to ongoing infrastructure needs related to their brain imaging research.

DeYoung’s project, “Neural Correlates of Goal Prioritization and Conscientiousness” aims to investigate the neural network involved in goal prioritization and how it relates to the personality trait conscientiousness. This lab will use fMRI to develop a theory linking conscientiousness to variation in the salience and ventral attention network.

Grissom’s project, “Simultaneous Imaging of Bilateral Accumbens Dopamine Release During Reward” seeks to understand the potential differences between the two sides of the brain. This lab uses dopamine releases during reward delivery or omission to examine differences in neurotypical animals versus those with a gene associated with autism through the use of fluorescent imaging techniques.
