New Diversity Science in Psychology Reading Group for Graduate Students

Two UMN Psychology faculty recently began a Diversity Science in Psychology reading group for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows across the department. Rich Lee (Counseling) and Moin Syed (PIB), along with Gail Ferguson in the Institute of Child Development (ICD), wanted to create a space for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to read and discuss current trends and topics in psychology that are relevant to studying diverse, minoritized populations.

The reading group also addresses professional development issues, from challenges doing diversity science in psychology to navigating the tenure and promotion process. More than 50 people have signed up to meet every Friday from 3-4 pm during the Fall semester. Weekly meetings have an average of 35 participants. The group is meeting virtually on Zoom for now.

Faculty and staff who would like to independently read the articles should contact Rich Lee to receive access to a google drive folder with the weekly readings.
