Sackett Navigates Bias in Hiring and Immigrant Employment

Headshot of Dr. Paul Sackett

In a recent article featured in Psychology TodayPaul Sackett provided insights into navigating bias within the hiring landscape. The article sheds light on prevalent biases including discrimination based on one’s name, zip code, and accent.

Discussions on discrimination often lack comprehensive coverage of immigrant employment issues. Sackett contributes by emphasizing that U.S. employers primarily focus on discrimination of legally protected groups, such as race, color, religion, sex, and nationality. Unfortunately, immigrants do not fall under the umbrella of legal protection, potentially contributing to the lack of attention due to the legal complexities surrounding their employment.
