Wiglesworth Receives Award from the Society of Indian Psychologists
Congratulations to Andrea Wiglesworth for being awarded the Society of Indian Psychologists (SIP) Honored Student Member Award. This award recognizes SIP members with honors for their outstanding contributions to their community and the field of psychology.
A blanket ceremony was held as is customary in many Indigenous cultures. Each blanket given to the recipient is unique and carefully selected by the honors committee to acknowledge their distinctive contributions to the psychology field and their community. These blankets are wrapped around the individual representing the gratitude, care, and joy felt for the recipients.
Wiglesworth was gifted the Faith blanket which was designed by Bethany Yellowtail. “This original design is inspired by Bethany Yellowtail's Apsáalooke (Crow) name: Ammaakeealaachelibaachiilakaacheesh, which translates to ‘Overcomes through Faith.’” The faith design acknowledges the designer’s name, family, and the people and prayers who have always guided her. The blanket was selected for Wiglesworth as a reminder and hope that she continues to have faith when feeling challenged.
