Congratulations to Andrea Wiglesworth for receiving a pilot research grant of $30,000 from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) supporting her research on changes in suicidal ideation and behavior over time among Native American young adults.

The project, “A Mixed-method Study of Fluctuations in Suicide Risk and Resilience in Native American Young Adults,” will use both qualitative and quantitative methods to explore if and how certain factors impact Native American young people’s suicide ideation severity over time. The goal is to better understand the ways in which this population garners protective factors against suicide.

Andrea Wiglesworth is a fourth year graduate student in the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota and current National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. She is advised by Dr. Bonnie Klimes-Dougan, who is a co-Investigator on the grant, and is part of the RADLab
