Fee Waivers:

The department will offer limited application fee waivers for the upcoming admission cycle. Request an application fee waiver by November 15th, 2026. McNair Scholars can request an application fee waiver from the Graduate School's Diversity Office

Program Basics:

All admitted students receive full funding for five years. No additional application is required. 

To apply to the PhD program, upload all materials to the online application. See the requirements & instructions tab for submission guidelines and ensure you follow instructions carefully. Refer to the admission standards and statistics tab for further information.

The Department of Sociology admits students to the fall-start PhD program. We do not admit to a terminal master's degree nor for a spring start. Students in the PhD program may earn a master's degree on the way to their doctorate.
