Congratulations to Professor Joshua Page, who has been named a Scholar of the College!

The Scholar of the College award is presented annually by the College of Liberal Arts to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievement by faculty in the college. Scholars are faculty members who have taken intellectual risks and whose work has achieved a high level of distinction, and has transformed, or promises to transform, the ways in which knowledge is constructed in a particular discipline or set of disciplines.

Joshua Page is the Fink Professor of Sociology and Law at the University of Minnesota. He is the author of The Toughest Beat: Politics, Punishment, and the Prison Officer Unions in California (2011) and co-author (with Michelle Phelps and Phil Goodman) of Breaking the Pendulum: The Long Struggle over Criminal Justice (2017). He’s currently writing a book with Joe Soss titled Legal Plunder: Predatory Policing and Punishment in the United States. He serves on the board of directors of The Legal Revolution and the research steering committee of The Minnesota Justice Research Center.
