Jones 135 is now the Speakeasy Lounge & Event Space, offering a versatile, comfortable, and collaborative space for all university community members.

Whether you need a quiet spot to focus, a place for group discussions, or a venue for hosting events, the Speakeasy is designed to meet your diverse needs. This multi-purpose space will seamlessly accommodate all your academic, professional, and social activities.

  • Comfortable and movable furniture that can be configured for individuals, small groups or large groups
  • Zoom Room technology with a Polycom and monitor
  • Mac laptops available for checkout to instructors and group leaders for use in the space
  • A mobile podium and whiteboard

It's a Lounge

When the room is not reserved, all are welcome to use it as a walk-in space for studying, group activities and more. Absolute silence is not required.

It's an Event Space

The room can be reserved by instructors, students and group leaders for up to 60 people (depending on room layout) for conferencing, presentations, social events, information fairs and more.

Printing

Printing is currently not available, but will be soon. The cost is ten cents ($0.10) per page, either single or double-sided. Payment is through the Gopher Gold system. Students can add value to their U cards by using a Value Port or online. Color printing is not available.

Print from Your Laptop 

Campus Cloud Printing simplifies printing from personal devices for lab patrons. Anyone with a UMN Internet ID can upload printouts to Campus Cloud print, swipe their UCards at the lab's print station, locate the upload, and print. Uploads can be submitted from any device that can connect to a browser. Please note that if you are connecting from off-campus, a VPN connection is required to initiate a print through Cloud Printing, and the prints must be picked up in Jones 135.
