MLK Advising Appointments

MLK advisors and peer advisors

Please refer to our How-To Guides before making an appointment or attending drop-ins.

Advising Appointments

Advising appointments with your MLK academic advisor are available at various times between 9 AM and 3:30 PM.

Make an Appointment

These appointments are 30 minutes long and are required at least once a semester for your first 1–2 years in the program in order to register for classes, and strongly suggested thereafter. Full advising appointments are necessary to release holds, make changes to student records, plan for graduation, and address all other questions and concerns that cannot be answered in under 15 minutes.

Drop-In Advising

Drop-in advising is reserved for quick questions and usually lasts 5 to 15 minutes. Typical drop-in topics include liberal-education requirements, second-language requirement, campus resources, major or minor program information, one-time-only withdrawals, personal concerns, and many other topics.

  • Drop-in help could be in person or by Zoom (note the modality details in the schedule below)
  • Mornings from 10am to noon, except on Wednesdays
  • Afternoons from 1pm to 3pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays
  • Zoom link for virtual drop-in: z.umn.edu/MLKOffice (launches a meeting)
