Psychology Advising Announcements

1. Psychology Advising COVID-19 Response

To our Psychology Undergraduate Students:

Our staff is here and ready to be available as we all transition into a fully remote and online environment in our current status. Our staff has been working hard to update our processes, communications, and staffing in anticipation of what is typically a busy “registration period” of March/April. We will do our best to continue to provide as many services and engagement experiences as possible.

While we understand the very necessary measures being implemented, we are sad that we will no longer be able to gather to celebrate our students in May for the Psychology Undergraduate Celebration and to see our graduating students walk across the stage in Mariucci Arena. We know all of the hard work that our Department student groups (Psych Club, IOPC, Assoc. Of Black Psych Students, and PISA) have done this year to promote community in the department and are hopeful that all of our collective work will somehow begin to reshape and engage you all in new and different ways over the coming weeks. This is really challenging in so many ways, but, there is still opportunity in the coming weeks to make the best possible experience in our new environment.

As our staff adjusts to new work, please be patient with us - we are a lean operation with a full-time staff of 3 and our 3 important student employees. Our students will be challenged, like you, to adjust to new working styles. And, our staff will also be adjusting to new demands of family care as Minnesota K-12 schools have also shut down. We know many of you will also experience the same constraints. And, we know many of you are returning home soon - and schedules may continue to evolve and present challenges. Our commitment is to continue to provide the best possible experience, remotely, and engage you in high-quality advising for your academic and post-graduation planning.

Email to our PSYADVIS@umn.edu will continue to be the most efficient method for reaching out to us for your needs. If you have quick questions, visit us in our virtual drop-ins, or, we look forward to seeing you in our online appointments. Take care of yourselves during this time, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside you on your academic journey.
