Research Planning
With expertise in research methodology and research computing, the College of Liberal Arts Technologies and Innovation Services (LATIS) assists with nearly every step of the research process. Providing support from the initial grant proposals to dissemination and long-term preservation, LATIS specializes in human-subjects protocols, instrument design, experiment programming, participant recruitment strategies, technologically-assisted data collection, data management, and data analysis for quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research. Research support from LATIS is available to faculty, students, and staff in the College of Liberal Arts and across the University.
LATIS consults with researchers on planning activities, including:
- Tools, approaches, and methods to answer research questions
- Data protection, storage, and handling
- Development of reproducible workflows
- Hardware and equipment specifications
- Collecting and acquiring data
- Survey sampling and participant pools
- Research computing resources
Support is available with language for grant and IRB applications, specifically:
- Budget planning for hardware, services, and other computational resources
- Methodological and technical experts and services that can be written into grants
- Technical description of shared storage and computational resources
- Data management, data sharing, or data analysis plans
- Strategies for protecting the confidentiality of research participants
