Scholarships

Undergraduate economics majors completing their junior or senior year of study in economics at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities can apply for the following scholarships:

The Krishna Rao Akkina Scholarship in Economics

The scholarship provides one year of financial support (consisting of a stipend of $1,125.00 for the year) for a full-time student demonstrating academic excellence in Economics, demonstrating financial need, and entering their junior or senior year of study at the University of Minnesota.

The Edward G. Clark Jr. Scholarship in Economics 

The scholarship provides one year of financial support, awarding up to $10,000 per recipient, to undergraduate Economics students who are dedicated to fostering a strong, engaged, and supportive academic community. This scholarship recognizes students who actively contribute to enriching the learning environment by connecting peers, sharing varied perspectives, and supporting greater access to opportunities within the field.

Carla Haugen and John Dexheimer Scholarship in Economics

The scholarship provides one year of financial support (a stipend of $2,500.00) for a student demonstrating academic excellence in economics and entering their junior or senior year of study in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota.

Douglas and Jane Gorence Endowed Scholarship in Economics

The scholarship provides one year of financial support (a stipend of $1,500.00) for a student demonstrating potential and academic excellence in economics at the University of Minnesota.

Thomas and Kristin Holtz Scholarship in Economics

The scholarship provides one year of financial support (a stipend of $2,500.00) for a student demonstrating academic excellence in economics and entering their junior or senior year of study at the University of Minnesota. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated a concern for helping others and a willingness to "Pay It Forward."

Winnifred Fabel and George F. Stockman Scholarship in Economics

The scholarship provides one year of financial support (a stipend of $1,500.00) for a student demonstrating academic excellence in economics and entering their junior or senior year of study at the University of Minnesota. Preference will be given to residents of Minnesota or North Dakota.

The Jack Stein Scholarship in Economics

The scholarship provides one year of financial support (consisting of a stipend of $1,500.00 for the year) for a full-time student demonstrating academic excellence in Economics, demonstrating financial need, and entering their junior or senior year of study at the University of Minnesota.

College of Liberal Arts Scholarships

The College of Liberal Arts offers scholarships for continuing students currently enrolled in the college. Each year, academically talented CLA students receive scholarships based on need or merit.
