Languages

Our department offers courses in German and Russian as well as Nordic languages including Swedish, Finnish, and Norwegian.

About Our Language Programs

Our language programs place German, Russian, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish in the context of global issues such as migration, environmental movements, and transnational cultural exchange. Students can take courses ranging from beginning language study to advanced coursework, including specialized options. Through authentic cultural materials—including films, music, texts, and websites—our nationally recognized program builds strong language skills while deepening understanding of the cultures connected to these languages. Other languages, such as Polish, are sometimes offered through Courseshare. Check with the Language Center about current Courseshare offerings.
