Music Therapy Non-Masters Equivalency

The School of Music offers an equivalency program for those students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in music (BA, BMus, or BS) of another emphasis who wish to become a music therapist. Applicants must have an excellent scholastic record with an overall degree GPA of at least 3.0 from an accredited, approved college/university.

STEP 1: Apply

A complete application includes:

  • Online Application (no longer actively accepting applications)
  • Unofficial copy(s) of all relevant transcripts from all post-secondary institutions uploaded to the application at the time of submission. Official transcripts will be requested upon admission to the program and due prior to enrollment.
  • Three current letters of recommendation from relevant references. The application will collect the email addresses of your recommenders and contact them on your behalf.
  • $45 Non-Refundable Music Application Fee. Students may apply for a fee waiver

STEP 2: Interview  

Applicants will complete a 15-minute interview with the faculty on the interview date they select on their application. Interviews are not available outside these formal dates. Interviews may be completed in person or remotely via Skype. You will be asked to submit a printed copy of your responses to the Music Education/Music Therapy Interview Profile at the time of your interview.
