Music Therapy Non-Masters Equivalency
The School of Music offers an equivalency program for those students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in music (BA, BMus, or BS) of another emphasis who wish to become a music therapist. Applicants must have an excellent scholastic record with an overall degree GPA of at least 3.0 from an accredited, approved college/university.
STEP 1: Apply to the Music Therapy Non-Masters Equivalency Program.
November 1, 2019 - Priority* Application Deadline for Fall 2020 entrance
December 1, 2019 - Final Application Deadline for Fall 2020 entrance
*Students who apply by the Priority Application Deadline will be given first-choice of interview date including access to select the December 7th Interview Day. After the Priority Application Deadline, the December 7th Interview Day will no longer be available to select.
A complete application includes:
- Online Application (posted here on August 1, 2019)
- Unofficial copy(s) of all relevant transcripts from all post-secondary institutions uploaded to the application at the time of submission. Official transcripts will be requested upon admission to the program and due prior to enrollment.
- Three current letters of recommendation from relevant references. The application will collect the email addresses of your recommenders and contact them on your behalf.
- $45 Non-Refundable Music Application Fee. Eligible students may apply for a fee waiver.
STEP 2: Interview
Applicants will complete a 15-minute interview with the Music Therapy faculty on the interview date they select on their application. Interviews are not available outside these formal dates; however, interviews may be completed remotely via Skype. You will be asked to submit a printed copy of your responses to the Music Education/Music Therapy Interview Profile at the time of your interview.
