Scholarships

The Dance Program offers a limited number of competitive scholarships to incoming Dance Major students ranging from $2,500–$10,000 per year. Dance scholarships for incoming students are determined by the audition and the Office of Admissions application process. Most four-year scholarships in Dance consider the intersection of talent and financial need. Students who wish to be considered for dance scholarships through the audition process are encouraged to learn about Scholarships for Future Freshmen and also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

In addition to recruitment scholarship opportunities for incoming freshmen dance major students in the College of Liberal Arts Undergraduate Office, merit- and need-based scholarship opportunities are available to returning dance major students on an annual basis pending available funds. Current students are given the opportunity to apply for available scholarships in winter/spring for the following academic year. Scholarships are awarded to dance majors who demonstrate achievement in one or more of the following criteria areas:

  • leadership
  • performance and technical proficiency
  • scholastic and academic excellence
  • creativity and choreography
  • collaboration and interdisciplinary efforts

Scholarship information and application instructions are emailed to dance major students and posted in the Barbara Barker Center for Dance approximately one month prior to the deadline.
