You can do a lot with this major! Acting majors go on to successful careers in film and theater, the arts, speech and performance work, education, politics, publicity, and much more.

The Acting major leads to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. It's a collaborative effort between the University of Minnesota and the renowned Guthrie Theater. Learn more about the major here or through the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance.

All liberal arts degrees help CLA students develop their Core Career Competencies, and Acting majors develop specific skills that are applicable to lots of different careers. These skills include:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Listening, clarifying, questioning and responding skills
