Support the Marching Band
Pride of Minnesota Fundraising Campaign
Pride of Minnesota Travel Fund (#22297)
Our U of M Marching Band is one of the finest in the nation. We were so #UMNproud to share our band with the nation during the 2018 Superbowl Halftime show. We would like to continue sharing our marching band with the rest of the country.
A generous donor committed $100,000 to start an endowment to use toward future Marching Band travel. Building on this fund will ensure travel to away games continues into the future.
Student Scholarships: Pride of Minnesota Leadership Fund (#7309)
“This scholarship will continue to inspire me to contribute my best self to the Marching Band.”
– Kat Robison, Color Guard and scholarship recipient
“I feel especially thankful to be receiving this band scholarship because I know it comes from donors who value the band and what we do...Supporting these students now is an investment in the future of the workforce and society. Donations [to Marching Band scholarship funds] set a standard of generosity that recipients of these scholarships can follow as they leave the band and the University.”
– Anonymous Marching Band scholarship recipient
University of Minnesota Marching Band students commit more than 500 hours of hard work and passion each season to create a band that represents “The Pride of Minnesota.” By making a gift to Marching Band scholarships you can help us provide financial awards to our students. Such financial support ensures that we can continue to develop young leaders.
Over the next five years, we hope to increase the percentage of students receiving Marching Band scholarships from 20% to 50%.
“This scholarship was a very unexpected gift, and I am very grateful for all the Marching Band has given me this year. I will never forget my time with the band. It was truly a magical experience and I received so much more from this experience than I would have ever expected. Thank you.”
– Erin Dickie, Tuba and scholarship recipient
Endowing the Directorship (#22127)
After 124 years and 18 directors, the Pride of Minnesota named Betsy McCann the first female head director of Marching and Athletic Bands in the Big 10 Conference.
We hope to build an endowment that will not only mark this momentous occasion in our history, but will also ensure the future success of the Marching Band.
By endowing the directorship, we will be able to retain our Marching Band Director at a more competitive salary. Long-term, we can attract future top talent with prestige and honor that a named endowment would provide.
Community Engagement: University Marching Band Fund (#1674)
“The Pride of Minnesota is a fantastic ambassador for our University, reaching beyond campus boundaries to inspire students across our state.” – U of M Regent Dean Johnson
Creating a Community Engagement Fund will allow the band to travel regionally and visit schools around the state, and will provide the opportunity to bring more students to campus to experience rehearsals, team building, and game days.
