School of Music ensembles are open to all University of Minnesota students. Some ensembles require an audition in order to register for the course, and these requirements are noted in the ensemble descriptions along with meeting times.
Ensemble auditions are offered twice per academic year. Fall auditions are held the first week of classes in September, and mid-year auditions are held in early December for students joining in the spring semester.

Non-Auditioned Ensembles
Ensembles that do not require an audition include: Campus Bands, Gospel Choir, Campus Singers, Campus Orchestras, World Music Ensemble, and West African Music Ensemble. To join these ensembles, register for the course and attend the first class meeting.

Ensemble auditions are organized by instrument. You will be required to register for an audition and prepare specified audition materials to perform in a live audition. Please visit the following pages for information regarding the audition process:
Fall audition results will be sent via email at the end of the first week of classes. Spring audition results will be sent out via email in mid-December. Course permissions for auditioned ensembles are entered after a successful audition result.
