The University of Minnesota is planning to return to fully on-campus operations in Fall 2021. School of Music plans will be consistent with state guidance and public health considerations related to the pandemic as autumn draws closer. Social distancing and other safety considerations will be in accordance with the College of Liberal Arts and the University of Minnesota policies and protocols, alongside Minnesota Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control recommendations.
School of Music ensembles are open to all students throughout the University. Some School of Music ensembles require an audition in order to register for the course, these requirements are noted in the ensemble descriptions along with meeting times.

- Percussion Ensembles
- Pep Band
- Marching Band
- Orchestral Ensembles
- World Music Ensembles
- University Opera Theatre
Ensembles that do not require an audition include; Campus Band, Gospel Choir, Campus Singers, Campus Orchestra, Steel Pan Ensemble, World Music Ensemble, West African Music Ensemble, and Javanese Gamelan. To join these ensembles, register for the course and attend the first class meeting.
Auditions will be held via recorded video submission.
Record a video of yourself playing the required audition materials in a single take and upload it to YouTube as an unlisted video (no other video hosting services or file formats will be accepted). A recording made using your smartphone or computer webcam will suffice. Please submit a link to the video using the submission form found here. Audition submissions are due by Friday, December 3rd, 2021 at 8:00am.
Audition results will be communicated via email by the first day of classes.
