Undergraduate Minor in Econometrics

The Department of Economics offers two minor options: the econometrics minor and the economics minor.

The econometrics minor appeals to students who plan to pursue careers related to mathematics, statistics, and data science. It will give students the ability to work with economic data, use estimation techniques to prove or disprove their hypothesis, and draw conclusions. Data analysis is a highly marketable skill.

The econometrics minor has a strong emphasis in mathematical and statistical analysis of economic data. Students will gain tools for estimating economic phenomena and forecasting economic conditions. This minor is useful for students interested in utilizing statistical techniques to understand economics issues and test theories.

Both minors require the following courses to declare:

  • ECON 1101 - Principles of Microeconomics
  • ECON 1102 - Principles of Macroeconomics
  • MATH 1271 - Calculus I

In order to take upper-level economics courses, students first need to declare their minor.
