Undergraduate Minor in Economics
The Department of Economics offers two minor options.
The Economics minor is useful for students interested in developing a foundation in Economic theory to complement their business, engineering, computer science, or social science majors.
The Econometrics minor has a strong emphasis in mathematical and statistical analysis of economic data. Students will gain tools for estimating economic phenomena and forecasting economic conditions. This minor is useful for students interested in utilizing statistical techniques to understand economics issues and test theories.
Both minors require the following courses to declare:
- ECON 1101 - Principles of Microeconomics
- ECON 1102 - Principles of Macroeconomics
- MATH 1271 - Calculus I
In order to take upper-level Economics courses, students first need to declare their minor. Interested students can make an appointment at econ.appointments.umn.edu.
