Faculty Considering New Advisees

The Psychology PhD program requires all applicants to identify a prospective advisor from the faculty listed as considering accepting advisees in the area of specialization they are applying to. As you prepare to apply, use this list to confirm that the faculty member(s) you are most interested in working with are accepting new advisees for the Fall 2026 cycle.

In the application portal, you will select an area of specialization to apply to and identify the faculty member(s) in that area that you would like to work with in an advising capacity. Only faculty accepting advisees for Fall 2026 will be listed in the application portal. See the section of the Application Checklist titled “Psychology Form - all applications” for additional details.

You do not need to contact faculty directly to confirm that they are considering accepting advisees. However, you may email faculty member(s) with specific questions about their current research,  advising practices, and similar topics. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the faculty member’s profile, recent scholarship, and lab before reaching out with questions.

The listings below are specific to Fall 2026 and reflect current faculty in the Department of Psychology. The list will be updated, as needed, if faculty join or leave the department.

Note: This page is updated annually by May 1 to reflect faculty considering new advisees for the upcoming admissions cycle.
